The suspect in Thursdays deadly bank robbery in Berea, is in custody.
The suspect has been identified as Brailen Weaver. Kentucky State Police Trooper Justin Kearney said the FBI has now taken the lead on the investigation.
According to our media partner WLEX, Lexington Police assisted Kentucky State Police and the FBI in locating the suspect early Friday morning.
A high speed puruit north on I-75 Thursday evening ended with an active search in Fayette County for the suspect, who reportedly fled on foot in the area of Johnston Road.
Officers began searching for the suspect driving a silver BMW with Alabama plates using FLOCK cameras. The vehicle’s ownership has changed multiple times, but the registration for the vehicle was never changed following the sale, presenting an issue locating the suspect as the search continued.
KSP told LEX 18 that the vehicle was moving at a high rate of speed Thursday evening before a chase ended in the area of Johnston Road in Fayette County.
During a press conference just after 11 Thursday night, KSP Trooper Kearney identified the victims of the deadly bank robbery in Berea Thursday afternoon as 35-year-old Breanna Edwards and 42-year-old Brian Switzer.
