A woman from Stanton was taken into custody Tuesday, July 12 in Berea on heroin trafficking and public intoxication charges. According to police reports, on July 12, an officer with the Berea Police Department responded to Peggy Flatts Road after a report of a truck was blocking the roadway with its lights on.
Shannon Charles of Stanton was in the vehicle and reportedly told the officer that a stranger had ‘given’ her the truck and she had heroin in the vehicle. Police state Charles appeared under the influence. Charles reportedly gave the officer permission to search the vehicle.
As a result of the search, the officer reportedly found suspected heroin in the truck. The vehicle was also reported stolen out of Winchester.
Charles is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance , public intoxication on a controlled substance, contempt of court libel/resistance to order, and receiving $10,000 or more in stolen property.
