According to Richmond Police, a fight between two Richmond men turned life-threatening last night when Kevin Sanders (19) pulled a knife and stabbed Aaron Hudson (22) three times. According to the press release issued by RPD, the incident occurred outside the Bluegrass Barrel House parking lot on K Street.
The incident occurred around 9:45 PM last night, when police responded to the area and found Mr. Hudson suffering from three stab wounds to the left side of his torso. Mr. Hudson was taken to a medical facility, where he remains in stable condition.
Police located and arrested Kevin Sanders a short time later at his residence. Mr. Sanders told police that he and Mr. Hudson were in a physical altercation. Sanders stated that he stabbed Hudson to prevent him from holding him down and possibly being assaulted by others.
Kevin Sanders was charged with Assault 1st Degree and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
After this story was reported, another story developed when the owners of the Bluegrass Barrel House and many of their employees came to the local bars defense, saying the information was incorrect. That the altercation happened near the bar, but not on their property.
Randy O’Neal, Attorney for the Bluegrass Barrell House, immediately issued retraction requests from several media outlets.
WBON-TV9 obtained a copy of the citation where the responding officer clearly states the incident occurred in a gravel lot NEAR the BBH bar, not actually on the BBH property.
The BBH posted this statement this morning on their Facebook page:
“To our patrons, a report earlier today stated that altercation at our location. This altercation was at the church building, not BBH. The safety and well-being is our utmost importance for every patron, who chooses to spend the night with us. BBH is family. We are working with our PD to clarify the statement that was made.’ -Anthony and Raela Phoenix.
