A large law enforcement presence responded to 110 Old Landing Road in Estill County early Saturday morning January 28, 2023. The incident began with Estill officers attempting to serve a complaint warrant/EP0 on the subject at the address around 12:30 am Saturday.
According to officials, the situation quickly escalated when the suspect reportedly started firing a weapon in the officer’s direction. Kentucky State Police and a SWAT team was then dispatched to the scene.
A standoff ensued for several hours, until the suspect was arrested around 7 am Saturday. No injuries were reported in the tense affair. Arrested was 42-year-old Thomas Jones. Jones is now facing a wanton endangerment charge of a police officer and third-degree terroristic threatening. Jones is lodged in the Three Forks Regional Jail.
According to Estill County Sheriff Chris Flynn, KSP is heading up the investigation.
