During the overnight hours around 3:00 am, the Jackson Fire Department in Breathitt County was on scene of a fire alarm activation in downtown Jackson on Main Street. The Jackson Police Department was notified by one of the firefighters on the scene that one male subject had sustained a gunshot wound. Officers of the JPD immediately responded to the scene and upon arrival found the fireman and one victim in a secure location. The victim of the gunshot wound had non-life threatening injuries and received medical attention on scene. After clearing the area JPD officers determined the suspect had fled on foot and has been identified. The investigation is active and ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Jackson Police Department at 606-666-2424 and speak with Captain Elvis Noble. Those callers may remain anonymous.
