Laurel County Sheriff’s office has launched a death investigation into the details surrounding a shooting at a residence off Laurel River Road, approximately 4 miles South of London on Saturday morning April 30, 2022 around 9:50 A.M.
Laurel Sheriff John Root states, upon arrival at the scene, investigators reported a male subject there with a gunshot wound to the thigh. Subjects there were reportedly doing first aid on the man. The individual who was shot was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in London where he was pronounced deceased a short time later by Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling.
Sheriff’s investigators reported that allegedly a domestic violence incident had apparently led to the shooting. A female subject at the residence allegedly fired one round from a pistol striking the male subject in the thigh. The deceased individual is identified as Jacob Laxton age 37 of London. Laurel Sheriff’s Lt. Chris Edwards, who is the case officer, advises that a case presentation is probable before a Laurel County grand jury.
