A 2025 Workers’ Compensation Safety Grant from the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) was presented to the City of Richmond on Monday. The money will help the city purchase programs and products that help keep employees safe and city officials applied for the funding to pay for safety training.
“We at the City of Richmond are grateful, once again, to be the recipient of this safety grant from KLC,” Mayor and KLC Board of Directors member Robert Blythe said. “Our workforce has embraced a safety-first mindset, which has resulted in consistent safety-first performance.” City Manager Rob Minerich added, “The city of Richmond’s commitment to team member health and safety is evident by the history of receiving this grant. The continued success of our programs is a result of the strong partnership between the city and the Kentucky League of Cities.”
KLC Insurance is Kentucky’s largest municipal insurance program, offering affordable, all-in-one coverage from workers’ compensation to liability and property. It has been awarding grants to its members for more than 25 years – helping members with more than $6.5 million in projects and purchases.
“Our members are committed to protecting the people who keep their cities running,” said KLC Executive Director/CEO J.D. Chaney. “This grant helps them take that commitment even further by improving workplace safety and reducing injuries.”
The Kentucky League of Cities is a membership organization that has been serving cities for nearly 100 years. The City of Richmond receives various services from KLC, including insurance, legal guidance, training, legislative advocacy, investment opportunities, and community development guidance.
