The identity of the man who attempted to rob the Cumberland Valley National Bank in Richmond, on Leighway Drive Monday, has been made public.
39-year-old Jason D. Sparks of Richmond was apprehended at a nearby apartment complex not long after Richmond Police arrived at the crime scene and began their investigation a little after noon Monday.
The sole charge against Sparks at this time is Robbery First Degree. The investigation continues by the Richmond Police Department and additional charges may be levied as the case progresses.
Richmond Police responded to a call to the CNVB location around noon Monday. A brief manhunt was initiated that resulted in Model Laboratory School being placed on a soft lockdown from 12:30-1:00 after reports the suspect was seen near the school.
Sparks was taken into custody not long after, at a nearby apartment complex and booked into the Madison County Detention Center around 8 p.m. Monday night. Richmond Police say no injuries were incurred during the incident.
