On Thursday morning the Richmond Chamber Of Commerce hosted their Business Breakfast at the Perkins building on EKU’s campus. The topic of discussion for this breakfast was the rising numbers of drug use. State Trooper Robert Purdy talked about the rising use of methamphetamine. He warned that there has been several cases of methamphetamine laced with the incredibly deadly drug, fentnayl. He stated that the users smoke the meth and then suffer from an opioid overdose.
Another topic of discussion was gateway drugs and prevention. It was stated that the majority of heroin users had consumed alcohol or tobacco by the age of fifteen. Trooper Purdy thinks that it is very important to have a support system in place for school students is crcuial for preventing new users
