10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Richmond 10-year-old stand out Joey Lopes traveled to Cleveland, Ohio this weekend for his debut super fight on the Fight 2 Win 261 Cleveland event.
He was set to face Abraham Schnoover in a match scheduled for 4 minutes in a youth grey belt intermediate match. Lopes walked the 35 feet across the entrance catwalk with his signature green furry bucket hat and briefcase in hand ready to go to work. In the opening seconds of the match both young men came out aggressive with Lopes securing double underhooks and scoring a takedown. Once on the ground Lopes worked an aggressive guard game attempting 2 arm bars.
The third attempt was successful and Joey Lopes finished the match seconds in with a belly down arm bar.
This was Joey Lopes first time competing on the F2W stage, immediately after the tap he stood from the mat eager to show his 10th planet pride holding up the 10 arms raised in victory. When asked what’s next, he said “I want some ice cream”.
Joey will return to 10th Planet Richmond to rejoin his team Monday as they prepare for GoodFight in London, KY on October 19th.
