ADCC made its first-ever appearance in Kentucky this past weekend, drawing more than 1,100 competitors from across the globe. Widely recognized as the most prestigious grappling organization in the world, ADCC is renowned for its demanding no-gi ruleset and elite level of competition.
The 10th Planet Richmond team brought an impressive 23 competitors to the event. The youth squad stood out, finishing 6th overall out of 118 teams—a remarkable accomplishment on such a large stage.
Individually, several athletes made their mark. Keegan Moberly and Matthew Petrey each captured gold in their respective divisions. The biggest highlight came from 9-year-old Raylan Hall, a gray belt who entered a stacked division of 10 other competitors from across the United States. Hall not only won his bracket but submitted all four of his opponents, cementing his performance as one of the event’s most notable youth achievements.
The Richmond team now looks ahead to an exciting fall schedule, with athletes preparing for the IBJJF No-Gi Pan Ams in Miami next month, followed by the GoodFight tournament in Richmond on October 18.
