RICHMOND, Ky. (WBON-TV) — A 78-year-old Richmond woman suffered a fatal medical emergency Friday morning, resulting in a single-vehicle accident in downtown Richmond that knocked out power to numerous traffic signals for several hours.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. Friday, October 9, near First Christian Church in the area of West Main Street, Water Street and Lancaster Avenue.
According to Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison, Linda S. Moberly, 78, of Richmond, suffered a medical episode before her vehicle struck a utility pole.
Cornelison emphasized that Moberly’s death was the result of the medical emergency and was not caused by injuries sustained in the crash.
Moberly was transported to Baptist Health Richmond, where she was pronounced dead at 10:35 a.m.
The collision also caused a disruption to traffic signals throughout downtown Richmond. Numerous traffic lights remained without power throughout the morning and into the mid-afternoon hours before electricity was restored.
