A Madison County woman was sentenced today in a Madison County Courtroom to 7 years for embezzlement from a Richmond business.
Joy Poynter Emerson was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking, after funneling nearly $60,000 from her employer’s account. The money was taken over her tenure as bookkeeper at Richmond’s Concrete Materials Company.
She was originally charged in 2018.
The sentenced was probated for 5 years, however Emerson was ordered to serve 60 days in jail. She was further ordered to make restitution to the business of $57,975 in payments of $500 per month beginning 30 after her release.
