Richmond woman facing attempted murder charges stemming from circumstances of collision

A Richmond woman is facing attempted murder charges after a situation on Manna Drive early Saturday morning. Police were dispatched to Manna Drive around 3 a.m. for a possible reckless driver, which eventually turned into a collision before police arrived.

Reports stated that 25 year old Tehyanna Pocknett of Richmond believed that her cousin was driving while intoxicated, so Pocknett used her vehicle to block the width of Manna Drive in an effort to stop her cousin from driving down the road. As a result Pocknett’s cousin struck the side of Pocknett’s car. Police reported that Pocknett had two of her children inside the car, one being a 5 five year old that was not in any child restraint device.

Officials say that Pocknett tensed and turned when being placed into handcuffs before she eventually complied.

Pocknett was charged with attempted murder and resisting arrest and transported to the Madison County Detention Center.
