Richmond woman arrested following alleged assault, attempted arson

A Richmond woman is being accused of attempting to set her husband on fire. Richmond Police responded to a Sweet Gum Drive residence on Saturday afternoon to investigate a domestic violence report.

Police say 40-year-old Tina Marshall apparently tried to set her husband on fire during an argument the two were having. According to the arrest citation, Marshall and her husband began arguing when she grabbed a lighter and attempted to light a mattress on fire when her daughter told her to stop. Allegedly, Marshall then took the lighter and held it to her husband’s upper body, saying she was attempting to light him on fire. Police say Marshall then began assaulting her husband, striking him with a closed fist and strangling him.

Following this, Marshall’s husband and daughter escaped from the house, and called 911 to report the incident. Marshall was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center where she was charged with Attempted Arson, Wanton Endangerment, Strangulation, and two counts of Assault.
