A Waco woman was arrested on Tuesday following a complaint from a parent that she was caught on video abusing a child under her supervision.
Richmond Police say they received the complaint along with videos of Beverly Vanwinkle-Thompson, a para-educator at White Hall Elementary, pulling the hair of a child inside the school’s gymnasium. According to the arrest citation, a second video depicts Thompson slapping the child on the leg after the child attempts to push her away.
After receiving the complaint, Richmond Police detained Thompson at her home before transporting her to the Richmond Police Department for an interview.
Following the interview, authorities transported Thompson to the Madison County Detention Center where she was charged with Criminal Abuse of a Child 12 Years and Under and 4th Degree Assault (Child Abuse).
