A burglary was recently reported to the Richmond Police after a male subject allegedly broke into a room at Turpin Drive residence.
The victim claimed that 26 year-old Stacy Winkler broke into their bedroom and stole assorted knives, $887.42 in cash, two 18K gold chains, two gold rings, and a wedding band. Winkler apparently shared the residence with the victim.
Two other individuals were present in the bedroom at the time of the alleged incident. The victim confronted Winkler and asked him what he was doing, however Winkler reportedly pushed past them and ordered the other two people to “hurry up and go”.
According to the victim, Winkler has admitted to stealing items such as gaming consoles before. While officials were still at the scene, Winkler returned to the residence.
Authorities asked Winkler if they could search his person for weapons, before he allegedly produced a small plastic baggie. According to police, the baggie contained a tan powdery/rocky substance that resembled heroin.
After Winkler was detained by an officer, he stated that the baggie was not his and that he did not know what the contents of the bag were. He added that he had just been released from jail a couple of days earlier, and proposed that someone could have put the baggie in his pants.
When asked by police about the victim’s stolen items, Winkler reportedly claimed that he did not steal any of the items, but was inside the room to make sure that the other two individuals had not taken anything.
According to police, the victim claimed that the contents of the small plastic baggie appeared to be “fake heroin”. They explained that it looked like someone attempted to find dirt and rocks which resemble the color of heroin in an attempt to sell it.
Winkler was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking ($500 or more, but under $10,000), and 1st Degree Possession of Controlled Substance (Heroin).
