Richmond Police follow blood trail to Turpin Drive Saturday night for arrest

Friday night June 10, 2023, at around 8:30, Richmond police discovered an injured man in the area of Edwards and Third Street in Richmond, allegedly covered in blood from an apparent stab wound to his arm. The victim was taken to Baptist Health Richmond for his wounds.

The officers report following a blood trail that led back to a residence at 414 Turpin Drive Apartment 2. There they located blood on the front door and then secured the residence and the occupants inside.

Police report, finding Michael “Mikey” Evans inside the residence with blood on him and his clothing. The officers’ reports state the apartment looked freshly mopped, and the floors were still wet. One of the residents of the apartment agreed to speak with police and identified Evans as the one who stabbed the victim.

Officers then executed a search warrant for the residence, where they recovered a couple of knives, and discovered blood splatter around the front door and on furniture near that area.

Officers, then interviewed Evans, and say Evans did acknowledge an altercation with the victim, but he say Evens stated the man appeared to be already injured when he entered their residence. Evans denied, stabbing the victim, and denied having knowledge about how or when he was stabbed.
