The overdose death of a woman here in Richmond back in November, has now resulted in the arrest of a 66 year old Richmond man. According to Police reports, officers were called to a location here in Richmond for reports of a deceased woman last month. Upon arriving on scene, officers saw evidence that the woman died due to an overdose. After conducting an investigation, officers concluded that the last person the victim spoke to was 66-year-old Vincent Pickens.
Police officers obtained a warrant to investigate Pickens Richmond home, where they say they discovered a loaded handgun that Pickens claimed was his. Police did confirm that Pickens is a convicted felon and that his possession of the firearm was unlawful. Police also report locating drugs and drug paraphernalia in Pickens home. Authorities then report Pickens allegedly admitted to selling his prescription Oxycodone to the victim. It was also discovered that an 11-year-old child was staying at the residence of Pickens where multiple other drug deals had allegedly taken place.
Pickens was taken into custody on December 1st and was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, multiple drug trafficking offenses, possession of a handgun by a felon, and manslaughter second degree.
Pickens is currently lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
