An 18-year-old Richmond man was arrested around noon yesterday, Monday June 19th, and charged with a litany of sexual abuse charges, stemming from numerous alleged encounters with a 13-year-old. According to citation, Alexander Kirkland of Judah Bear Boulevard in Richmond is facing rape, sodomy, strangulation, and 4th degree assault charges, among others.
The charges stem from recent encounters the victim described as repeated instances of Kirkland physically abusing her with force including strangling her on multiple occasions, pulling her hair, shoving her, and threatening her further if she didn’t engage in adult relations with him. The victim stated she became so frightened of Kirkland, that those encounters followed.
The victim went on to say Kirkland also became violent with her 7-year-old sister on one occasion and tried to force 4 ink pens down the child’s throat.
The arresting officer states he mirandized Kirkland, who then agreed to speak with the officer and granted the officer permission to search his phone. After initially denying any adult relations with the minor, when the officer discovered many inappropriate photos and discussions with the victim, Kirkland admitted he had encounters with the girl. Once informed he was under arrest, Kirkland allegedly attempted to smother himself in the interview room with a trash bag.
Kirkland remains in the Madison County Detention Center.
