Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to investigate suspicious activity which had been reported in the Gabbardtown Road area of Berea on Thursday morning.
Once officers arrived to the area, they observed a parked vehicle occupied by three persons nearby. According to police, 41 year-old Steven Knuckles, exited the vehicle and fled on foot after the officer attempted to make contact with the group.
Knuckles was apprehended by authorities after a brief foot pursuit. A MCSO K9 unit was then brought on scene and deployed to conduct a free air sniff on the vehicle. Police say the K9 gave a conditioned response to the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle reportedly yielded suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Knuckles was arrested and charged with Fleeing or Evading 2nd Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, and Possession Drug Paraphernalia. He was later lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
