Richmond Police made an early morning arrest today after investigating a reported fight at a Parrish Drive area home where a man allegedly assaulted two members of his family.
When officers arrived to the home at around 4 a.m., they discovered that 29 year-old Michael Glorioso had fled the scene after the conflict which had just happened minutes earlier. Immediate family members of Glorioso told authorities that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages throughout the previous day, and that he had been asked to leave the residence.
According to the arrest citation, this escalated into a verbal argument between Glorioso and the family member outside of the home before Glorioso allegedly struck the victim in the face. At this time, another family member attempted to intervene leading to Glorioso biting their hand. Officers observed the reported injuries on both individuals.
While speaking with the victims, officers noticed a loud noise coming from the backyard of the residence. Upon investigating the sound, police discovered Glorioso lying face down on the ground. Authorities detained the suspect, and questioned him about the assault. According to Glorioso, he had been drinking and taking Xanax due to the recent passing of his brother. Glorioso says that he was physically pushed when asked to leave the house, and that he bit the victim in an attempt to get out from underneath them.
When asked why he fled the scene, he reportedly told police that he “didn’t want to go to jail, cause he was allergic to cuffs”.
Glorioso was arrested and transported to the Madison County Detention Center where he was charged with two counts of 4th Degree Assault and Public Intoxication.
