During Tuesday nights city commission meeting Rob Minerich was officially hired as the new city manager for Richmond and will begin his position on June 25th. All but commissioner Morgan Eaves voted in favor of hiring Minerich, Eaves stated that she felt that Minerich was not qualified for the position but that she hopes he can prove her wrong. Minerich stated that he is excited about his new position and that he wants to wants to be visible to all city employee’s and see that their needs are met.
Previous manager Richard Thomas announced his resignation earlier this year. He was appointed as interim manager in 2014 where he was hired permanently in 2015.
The city of Richmond will also be hiring two new code enforcement officers for the Codes Department as well as purchasing new security gates for some of the city owned parking lots.
There was also the first reading the city’s fiscal year 2019 budget. The budget will continue to be amended during the next commission work session.
