It was a scary morning for workers at the Cumberland Valley National Bank on Leighway Drive here in Richmond, as that bank location was the sight of an attempted robbery earlier today, Monday May 8, 2023.
Richmond Police say the call came in just after noon, and units converged on the location just off the Eastern Bypass. Model Laboratory School was placed on lockdown from around 12:30 to 1 pm after reports the suspect was possibly spotted near the school.
Soon after, Richmond Police announced they had made an arrest in the case and the suspect was in custody.
WBON-TV9 has continued to investigate this story throughout the afternoon. What we know at this time, is that the suspect was apprehended in a nearby apartment complex. He is described as a white male between the ages of 30-40. The suspect is also believed to be someone local.
Richmond Police are continuing to process the suspect and investigate the matter before formal charges are brought against this individual and they are identified.
As always, WBON-TV will have it first and factual when that information is available. We expect that to be sometime this evening. Like and follow WBON on Facebook for the fastest updates on breaking local news, community happenings, weather and sports.
