As the result of over 70 candidates throwing their hats in the ring for all of the election 2018 races in Estill County, organizers have come up with a solution so that all can get their platforms out to the voters.
For the first time, the election forums will be spread across 5 weeks, beginning this Thursday, March 22nd. WBON-TV spoke to Cathy Watson of the Estill County public library who explained that the influx in interest in running for public office is exciting for the county.
The large turnout, she says, could be in part because of the many pressing issues happening in Estill County right now, including the contention involving radioactive waste at the landfill, and the jail being closed for nearly a year now.
Forums are as follows, all from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays at the auditorium of Estill County High School:
March 22nd: Estill Judge Executive
March 29th: Sheriff Candidates
April 12th: County and Court Clerks
April 26th: Magistrates
May 3rd: Mayor, Constable, and Jailer Candidates
