A Lexington man who was being disorderly inside of a Berea health foods store ended up getting arrested…but not before he attempted to spit on officers and damage the inside of the cruiser. According to Berea police, officers arrived at the happy meadow store to a call involving the subject arguing with a female in the business. 24 year old Abdul Simmons was attempted to be taken into custody at this point by officers, but resisted arrest. He was finally taken into custody after attempting to spit on police as well as kicking the door of the cruiser. He was charged with disorderly conduct, terroristic threatening, criminal mischief, assault of a police officer, and resisting arrest.
A man apparently sleeping at a gas station inside of his vehicle led to a drug arrest in Berea. Officers were called to the BP station, and originally the suspect gave officers a false name. However, they eventually arrest 54 year old David Cromwell after searching his vehicle and finding pills and suspected marijuana. He was charged with tampering with physical evidence, possesion of a legend drug and marijuana, and giving an officer false identifying information.
A crab orchard man was taken into custody recently for trafficking in both heroin and pills. Berea police report that the man had been seen meeting with another person in a suspected drug deal before they initiated a traffic stop. 42 year old terry smith acted nervous upon being pulled over, and was allegedly shaking. Smith allegedly handed over pills from his pocket, as well as a large amount of cash. Upon searching the vehicle, a large amount of suspected heroin was also located. He was arrested and taken to the Madison county detention center.
