Backroads of Appalachia Rally features 85 teams of two or more people, 1 racing venue, and over 20 stops at historical and scenic locations across Kentucky and Indiana.
Backroads of Appalachia Rally gets underway on Monday, July 10th from Bristol Motor Speedway and will travel along back roads through Richmond, Kentucky; French Lick, Indiana before ending 900 miles later Thursday, July 12 in Covington, Kentucky.
Specific, secret check points that must be navigated along the route are not revealed to the participants until they leave their starting points each day. Rally North America (www.Rally NorthAmerica.com) was established in the winter of 2009 and is an organization aimed at bringing automotive enthusiasts from all over the United States and Canada together for the purpose of auto rallying for a cause. The charity cause for the Appalachia Rally is Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Each rally organized by Rally North America (RNA) carries a common idea, or driving for a cause. Rally North America believes that by combining the love of the automotive lifestyle and a worthy charity organization, it is possible to do something “good” through the automotive hobby. Rally North America events have raised more than $2,000,000 in direct donations to the charities chosen as beneficiaries.
Rally North America participants are required to provide a professional and respectful representation of the automotive community to everyone. Participants must follow the rules of the road and are expected to be courteous to the drivers with whom they are always sharing the road.
