Monday, Clay City Police report a male subject, later identified as Micah Israel, allegedly ignored a safety / sobriety road check on Winchester Rd. After reported multiple attempts from officers to get Israel to stop, Clay City Officer Rogers, with the assistance of Powell County Deputy Martin, initiated a traffic stop at Gasoline Alley.
Upon contact with Israel, officers reported a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officers state Israel came forward with a small baggie of marijuana and a marijuana blunt. Probable cause search of the vehicle further revealed a black duffle bag in the back seat according to the report. Located inside the duffle bag was a large vacuum sealed food saver bag containing a significant amount of marijuana. Israel was then placed under arrest.
A large quantity of cash in Israel’s pants pocket was also reportedly discovered. Officers could not successfully get an accurate weight of the marijuana due to it maxing the scales out. It is believed to be upwards of 1 pound of marijuana. Israel was lodged in Powell County Detention Center on a trafficking marijuana charge.
