A phony $100 dollar bill landed a man in jail in Richmond, as well as the alleged cup full of beer he carried into the Autozone business. According to officers, 56 year old Clayborne Richardson of Big Hill was exhibiting signs of intoxication, such as slurred speech, when he produced the fake Benjamin at the store Monday. The workers at the store reported that it was obvious Clayborne was under the influence, and the bill was obviously not valid once it was marked.
He was arrested after allegedly telling two different stories to both the clerks and the police, and after his Speedway cup full of beer was dumped out. He is charged with drinking in a public place, his third alcohol intoxication charge in the past year, criminal possession of a forged instrument, and theft by deception and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
