It was almost a picture-perfect night at the Newby Country Store celebrating the Fourth of July on the Third of July or a day early. Hot dogs and barbeque were on the menu as well as all types of candy for the young kids and me. However, it was a bit disappointing when I was informed no Dr. Pepper. Next time, I will have a spare in the car.
On the stage when we arrived was Maddie Caudill with her guitar instructor accompanying her. It was my first time hearing this young country music fan sing and play her guitar. For a ten-year old young lady, I was extremely impressed with her stage presence and all the songs that she knew. If you like Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Maddie and Tae as well as the young stars of country, you will enjoy Maddie Caudill. I am looking forward to watching this special young lady grow and see what is in store for this future Madison County starlet.
Next up at the Newby County Store was John Lovern. John entertained the crowd with his guitar and a voice that would make any country fan appreciate his music. I watched as many others quietly sang along with John, and yes, I even joined the local choir singing quite softly not to ruin anyone’s evening.
It was a beautiful holiday evening, and it was not even a holiday. However, on our way home, many residents were celebrating the Fourth of July a day early with their local firework displays. Be safe and enjoy your Independence Day!
