The 32nd annual Mountain Mushroom Festival is underway in downtown Irvine.
The yearly festival celebrates the edible morels found this time of year in the region. Many people come to the festival in hopes of buying some of the delicacy’s that are fetching $70-80 per pound this year in the ‘mushroom market’ located near the Estill County Courthouse.
Morel cooking demonstrations are slated for Saturday at 2, followed by a seminar at 3 on how to help you hunt and find the elusive morels.
The festival, held the last Saturday in April annually, features lots of vendors, food booths, and is heavy on music.
