**ORIGINAL STORY**
A late Saturday night accident, on Charlie Norris Road in Madison County, has resulted in an off-duty Madison County Deputy’s arrest, and has sent a motorcyclist to the hospital.
Jonathon Thompson, age 37, who is still officially listed as a deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office was arrested by KSP on Sunday. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Thompson had already turned in his resignation, effective end of July, to take a new position in another city.
Thompson was charged with assault and driving a vehicle under the influence by Kentucky State Police, who are investigating the case.
A family member tells WBON-TV9, the man driving a motorcycle was going down Charlie Norris Road when Thompson allegedly pulled out on the road in front of the cyclist on a side-by-side type vehicle.
The motorcyclist was rushed to UK hospital for extensive injuries, including two fractured ribs, a broken elbow, as well as arm and head injuries, according to the family member.
