On Wednesday, Kentucky State Police, Post 8 received a call for assistance from Rowan County Dispatch of a two-vehicle injury collision that occurred on Interstate 64 at the 148 mile marker.
Investigators determined a mid-size SUV was traveling west bound operated by 45 year-old Dennis McCoy of Olive Hill. McCoy was traveling in the left lane when he dropped off the shoulder of the roadway and over-corrected, before striking a commercial truck.
McCoy was transported to St. Claire Regional Hospital by EMS officials where he was pronounced deceased by Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt. The driver of the commercial vehicle was reported to be uninjured in the collision.
Kentucky State Police was assisted by Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Rowan County Fire and Rescue, and Rowan County EMS. This collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police, Post 8, Morehead.
