Former University of Louisville Basketball Player Montrezl Harrell was scheduled to be in Richmond yesterday to attend a hearing at the Madison County District Court regarding the charges of trafficking Marijuana. However, that hearing has now been pushed back to August 10th.
Harrell, according to documents obtained by WBON-TV, was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over by a Kentucky State Police Trooper in May. The reason for the stop was that the suspect vehicle was reportedly following another vehicle too closely. While speaking with Harrell during the stop, the Trooper stated they detected the odor of marijuana.
According to the arrest citation, Harrell admitted to being in possession of the marijuana and allegedly revealed a small amount of the substance in his sweatpants. Following a search of the vehicle, three pounds of vacuum-sealed marijuana was found. Harrell was charged with a felony of trafficking in marijuana, less than five pounds.
Harrell is currently a free agent in the NBA after spending last season with the Charlotte Hornets. Before playing for Rick Pitino at Louisville, Harrell played at Hargrave Military Academy Prep School for current EKU Head Basketball Coach AW Hamilton.
