Another inmate tried to walk away and escape from work detail today. This time in Mount Sterling.
According to Montgomery County Jailor Ian Roberts, inmate David Lockard stated he needed to use the restroom just before 11:30 today. Lockard instead took off in an effort to escape. Lockard was recaptured in less than an hour without incident after a foot chase that started near the 110 mile marker of I-64 westbound, and went through the woods near the Old Silo Golf Course.
Lockard will now face additional charges of Resisting Arrest, Fleeing/Evading 1st degree and Escape.
Lockard was originally serving a 3 year sentence on Flagrant Non-Support.
