The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, are investigating a two-vehicle collision which has left one woman dead in Madison County.
Kentucky State Police’s initial investigation indicates that a sedan operated by 50 year-old Daniel Baird of Auburn Hills, Michigan, was traveling west on Interstate Drive and attempted to make a left-handed turn into a gas station, crossing the center line into the path of a full-size pickup truck operated by 23 year-old Jorge Marcellino of Walton, KY, traveling east.
As a result of this collision, 70 year-old Loretta Birch of Orion, Michigan, a passenger in the vehicle being operated by Baird, was transported to Baptist Health Richmond, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison.
Another family member in the vehicle was treated at Baptist Health Richmond and transferred to UK Hospital in Lexington for a pelvic fracture. The driver of the vehicle was reportedly uninjured.
