Emergency units responded to a fatal accident on Southbound I-75 around the vicinity of the 93 mm last night that resulted in the death of a Mississippi man.
According to Coroner Jimmy Cornelison, he tells WBONTV that the man suffered cardiac arrest while driving on the interstate. Witnesses told authorities that he had veered off the roadway, eventually hitting a tree. Cornelison says when EMS arrived, he was suffering the heart attack and had to be taken to the hospital. The man, identified as 57 year old David Doherty had underlying health issues such as cardiovascular disease.
The Coroner says they did conduct a toxicology report just in case, although it was clear he suffered a medical emergency resulting in the wreck.
