MCSO: Suspect in yearlong drug trafficking investigation receives sentence

A man that was involved in a yearlong investigation by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Drug Enforcement Administration recently received a lengthy sentence for drug-related charges.

From December 2023 through December 2024, authorities ran an investigation regarding the alleged drug activities of Jabari Cortez Andrews in Madison County. Investigators determined that Andrews, and others under his direction, were distributing large amounts of Oxycodone pills to numerous individuals throughout Madison, Estill, and Garrard Counties. It was learned through the investigation that Andrews maintained a residence in Madison County for the purpose of this drug distribution.

In July 2025, Andrews was indicted by a federal grand jury in U.S. District Court, Lexington, for Conspiracy to Distribute Oxycodone and Distribution of Oxycodone (6 counts), along with forfeiture allegations. Andrews was subsequently arrested by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

Andrews appeared in U.S. District Court in February 2026 for a re-arraignment hearing to change his initial plea to “guilty.” Police say Andrews also had a prior felony drug conviction for manufacturing or delivering controlled substances from a 2009 case in Michigan.

In June 2026, Andrews was sentenced to 156 months in the U.S. Bureau of Prisons and 6 years supervised release by the Honorable U.S. District Judge Karen K. Caldwell.
