Newby Country Store hosted Marshmellow the Highland Cow Sunday December 18, 2023. It was Marshmallow’s debut appearance. Young boys and girls were lined up waiting on Marshmallow’s owners to bring him down to Newby at 11 a.m. Sunday morning. Daylan Cutlon, Marshmallow’s owner, informed me that he was presently surprised when he and his wife, Meagan, arrived just at 11 a.m. to see the line of young boys and girls waiting to have their picture taken with Marshmallow.
Ashley Hatton, the proprietor of Newby Country Store, was busy ringing up the cash register as parents of the young children and patrons, like me, of the Newby Country Store ordered a sandwich and a drink for lunch or bought another Christmas present.
Newby Country Store was named “Small Business of the Year” by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce recently and the “Marshmallow” promotion looked to be an example of a job well done by the marketing folks running the Newby Country Store. Watching young children enjoy Marshmallow, the candy, and toys were the signs of a successful promotion.
There is still time to drive down to the Newby Country Store and buy a Christmas present for your spouse, child, or neighbor. The old candy makes a good stocking stuffer. One young boy sniffed every candle in the store. Their country ham sandwich was delicious.
Hopefully, Marshmellow the Highland Cow will make a return visit to the Newby Country Store for more pictures. Oh yeah, Marshmallow is a bull. You have to love his name, Marshmallow. Kids do and so does this old kid. Thanks Newby Country Store and have a Merry Christmas!
