Marijuana reform group Ky Norml held a Cannabis Community Educational Forum to teach Kentuckians about the benefits of legalization of both recreational and medicinal marijuana. The forum taught about the history of the plant, the history behind it being criminalized, and the benefits of it being made legal again. One member of the forum was Jamie Montalvo who is the executive director of Kentuckians for Medicinal Marijuana. He suffers from multiple sclerosis and said that medical marijuana has proven far more effective than other treatments. Other members on the forum brought up statistics from other states that have legalized and said that legalizing marijuana will help reduce crime, fight the opioid epidemic and bring tax revenue for the state.
