With help from the London Police Department and KSP officers, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest in connection to the Sunday murder of Jeremy Caldwell yesterday afternoon.
Authorities were dispatched to a southern London residence near West City Dam Road, after information was obtained that suspects were possibly at the home. The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office was seeking two suspects allegedly involved in the murder which occurred near Highway 490 on Sunday afternoon. The two suspects, identified by police as Robert Gray of Keavy and Ashley Lewis of East Bernstadt, reportedly fled the scene after the fatal shooting.
Upon police arrival, Robert Gray attempted to flee out of a back window, but ran back inside the residence and refused to exit. Communication with the suspect via a phone system deployed by the sheriff’s office was attempted, however, the suspect would not leave the residence.
The regional Special Reaction Team was activated to respond to the scene later Wednesday morning. An infrared imaging system provided by West Knox Volunteer Fire Department was utilized by SRT to locate Gray in the attic of the residence. SRT officials entered the attic area where they successfully and safely arrested Gray.
Robert Gray was charged with Murder, Fleeing or Evading Police on Foot, Resisting Arrest and was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
