The Madison County Sheriff’s Office received a call for assistance at a structure fire at 129 Barrett Lane, just off 1016, in Berea early this Monday morning. Firefighters responded to the scene at approximately 12:30 a.m.

As a result of the fire investigation, a body was discovered in the home. That person has now been identified by the Madison County Coroner’s office as 59-year-old Matthew Dallam of Berea.
Officials say a shed on the property was engulfed in flames as well.
The body has been sent to Frankfort for an autopsy and toxicology findings.
Along with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the Berea Fire Department, Berea Volunteer Fire and Rescue, and Coroner were also on the scene.
