A man is dead after an incident involving law enforcement in Estill County.
WBON-TV9 has been following reports of an active police scene that developed at a residence on Rosemont Road early Thursday night near the Madison/Estill County line off of Knob Lick Road.
Authorities were reportedly attempting to serve an outstanding warrant on the subject.
Neighbors reported hearing heavy gun fire in the area Thursday night. An ambulance and law enforcement remained on the scene until Friday morning.
Authorities entered the residence this morning to find the subject had been struck by fire when shots were exchanged and died as a result.
Estill County Coroner Jimmy Wise was dispatched just before 7 Friday morning to the scene.
The man has been identified now as 46-year-old Christopher Rose of Estill County. The body has been taken for an autopsy.
This remains a sensitive and active investigation with limited information being released by authorities at this time.
Kentucky State Police is handling the investigation.
