A Richmond man is now behind bars following an alleged incident involving gunfire inside his home on Sunday evening.
According to an individual who was also in the house at the time, Mario Gonzalez arrived at the Oakland Avenue residence intoxicated. They added that he began arguing with them, resulting in Gonzalez being told to leave the house.
Gonzalez reportedly refused to exit, and told the victim to call the police. Further reading of the arrest citation indicates that he then produced a .380 caliber handgun, firing one round into the kitchen ceiling.
Richmond police say that by doing this, Gonzalez created a substantial risk of death or serious injury to both himself and the victim. Gonzalez also allegedly prevented the victim from leaving the residence following this incident, resulting in the victim locking themselves inside a bedroom to await the arrival of authorities.
Gonzalez was transported to the Madison County Detention Center where he was charged with 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment and 1st Degree Unlawful Imprisonment.
