The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents of an attempted scam targeting a Madison County resident.
The resident received a fake Violation Notice (citation) by mail demanding nearly $6,000 in payment. This citation is fraudulent and not issued by any legitimate law enforcement or court authority.
The Department advises if you receive a similar notice in the mail:
• Do NOT send any money
• Do NOT provide any personal information
• Contact your local law enforcement agency or the district court in your county to verify the legitimacy of any citation.
