The Madison County School Board took the first steps in finding a replacement for superintendent Elmer Thomas Wednesday night. The school board is working with the Kentucky School Boards Association to find a replacement.
The board will put together a search committee who will look for a new superintendent over the summer. There is a goal to have a replacement by August 1st but it is possible the search will take longer. During Wednesday night’s meeting the advertisements for the position was designed.
The search committee will consist of a teacher, principal, parents and at least one minority parent. They will be having closed door meetings and interviews with candidates during the hiring process.
Current superintendent Elmer Thomas has served in the position since 2013 and announced that he will be retiring after the current academic year, earlier this year.
