Madison County Property Valuation Administrator Billy Ackerman was arrested yesterday on a DUI while attempting to pick his children up from school. The arrest was made at around 3:30 pm yesterday when police received a call that Ackerman was possibly intoxicated. Reports say that Ackerman told police that he did in fact drink bourbon earlier in the day. He then reportedly failed a sobriety test after refusing to take a breathalyzer and was then booked in to the detention center in Madison county where he was released upon his own recognizance.
UPDATE: Statement from Billy Ackerman’s Facebook
“I would like to apologize to my family, friends, and the community. You deserve better from me, and I let you down. I am embarrassed and eager to make amends. This weekend, I will discuss with my family the steps I must take to address my issues and become the man I can and should be. Thank you.”
