Madison County emergency crews were on the scene of an intense structure fire on Christmas night. A 911 call came in at 8:45 pm reporting the fire at a College Hill Road residence.
Upon arrival, fire units advised they had a working structure fire with heavy smoke and flames visible through the roof. The homeowner was transported to UK hospital by Madison County EMS for burns to his head, chest, arms & hands.
One firefighter was treated on scene for heat exhaustion. The home was reportedly gutted. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
