In the latest update from the Madison County Health Department, there have been two new deaths reported due to COVID-19. The weekend cases mirrored the rest of the state as far as the rise in cases, where 168 new cases were reported overall.
On Friday, the health department reported 36 new cases; 36 on Saturday; and a whopping 96 confirmed positive for the virus on Sunday. The county remains dangerously high for incidence rate at 73.6 percent. 18 Madison Countains have now succumbed to the virus. As far as active cases, the Department reports there are 642 as of Monday.
Statewide, only three counties remain in the orange, and 117 are in the critical category for incidence rate of the virus per 100K population.
