A Madison County Deputy made a big discovery while trying to lend a helping hand to a motorist on Tuesday.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s office, Deputy Shane Johnson responded to a motorist assist call from a woman needing a jump in the 5800 block of Battlefield Memorial Highway around 5:30 yesterday. A routine check of the vehicle revealed an active warrant out on the driver and an amber alert for the child with her.
30-year-old Ashley Jordan Griffith of Gate City VA, was charged and apprehended on the scene and is now further charged with Resisting Arrest and being a Fugitive from another State.
Griffith was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center. The 10-month-old child, Cedar Samuel Griffith, was taken into protective custody by the Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies.
